Bilkent University’s Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture (FADA) is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an exhibition titled Intersections. Taking place at CerModern from September 29 to October 7, 2026, the exhibition brings together works from the Faculty’s six departments, spanning different generations, disciplines, and creative practices.
Founded in 1986 as one of Bilkent University’s first faculties, the Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture comprises the Departments of Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Communication and Design, Urban Design and Landscape Architecture, and Architecture. The exhibition presents a selection reflecting the Faculty’s forty-year culture of production, institutional memory, and interdisciplinary structure.
The exhibition features selected works by the Faculty’s graduates and academics, ranging from earlier periods to the present, alongside projects, publications, documents, archival materials, and new works. Together, they reveal the Faculty’s contemporary and innovative approaches while tracing a rich, multilayered visual history that continues to evolve in dialogue with its past.
Dean of the Faculty Prof. Dr. Yasemin Afacan described the exhibition as a living dialogue between past and present:
“As we celebrate the 40th anniversary of our Faculty, we wanted to show that the artists, designers, architects, academics, and graduates who were trained and have worked within our Faculty continue to produce, grow, and forge new connections today. While bringing together works, projects, archival materials, and ongoing research from different periods, we also sought to make visible the shared educational environment, interdisciplinary interaction, and the bonds formed over the years behind these individual works.”
Rather than presenting the Faculty’s history as a single, linear narrative, the exhibition traces creative paths that have intersected, diverged, and reconnected over the years. It also highlights how relationships formed within the Faculty have continued beyond graduation, evolving into new collaborations, practices, and works across different fields.
